Dr. Thabo believes in the power of turning pain into purpose and struggles into strength.
When she was a 14 year old girl she lost her mom and made a promise that she would become a medical doctor one day. She didn’t know it then, but that promise was the beginning of a journey to step into her power and purpose.
Trying to keep her promise to her mom, she enrolled in medical school at 22 with no idea how she was going to pay for it. She went on Oprah’s website hoping to find some kind of scholarship or grant she could apply for - but she found something that ended up being so much more.
She was invited to be part of Oprah’s Lifeclass on you Become What you Believe in October 2011. As she sat on that stage surrounded by these incredible women sharing their stories of struggle and pain and how they turned that into their purpose, she began to reflect on her story differently and was able to connect her pain with her process of becoming who she was meant to be.
Everything shifted in her at that moment.
Now she teaches and mentors women and young girls who are going through hard times. She helps them see those struggles through a different lens.
That when you allow yourself to be in that moment and let it teach, transform and empower you, the answers will come.
Listen to her incredible story of resilience and hope that light comes out of the darkness.
